This unique event hosts Design Thinking Challenge- a hands-on experience that invites participants to explore creative solutions to real-world problems.
What is Design Thinking?
Design Thinking is a dynamic, user-centred approach to problem-solving that encourages individuals to think outside the box and embrace a creative mindset. It involves understanding the needs of users, challenging assumptions, and redefining problems to identify alternative strategies and solutions. This iterative process is characterised by five stages:

Who Can Participate?
The Design Thinking Challenge is open to schools, which may send up to three teams from Middle to Senior School levels. Each team will consist of four students who are eager to dive into this creative process.
Structure of the Design Thinking Challenge
- Team Composition: Schools can send three teams, each consisting of four students.
- Challenge Process: A team of Design Thinking Facilitators will guide participants through the challenge, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive experience.
- Educator Support: A dedicated Ekya Educator Volunteer will be assigned to each school team to answer questions and provide assistance.
- Materials: Teams are encouraged to bring basic art supplies like scissors and glue. All other necessary materials for the challenge will be provided at the venue.
Judging and Awards
The final ideas will be judged by a panel of Design & Innovation Experts. Awards will be given in the following categories:
- Innovation Visionary Award: For the most creative and innovative solution to the problem.
- Collaboration Maestro Award: For the team that demonstrates exceptional teamwork and collaboration.
- Design-Tech Virtuoso Award: For the team that best utilises design and technology.
How to Prepare
Once registered, the problem statement will be shared with schools, allowing teams to start thinking about potential solutions. This early engagement helps participants come prepared to dive straight into the design thinking process on the day of the event.
